This is not a cosmetic update. Version 4 represents a full rebuild of ObjectNow.
Over the past two months, the platform has been rewritten from the ground up. Core systems have been reworked to fix long standing bugs, resolve user experience issues and deliver a faster, more stable and more reliable platform. These improvements apply across the whole of the UK and now form the foundation for all future objection campaigns.

From the first page load, everything now feels lighter, clearer and more responsive. The entire journey has been carefully reworked to guide people naturally through the process, removing unnecessary steps and eliminating moments of friction or confusion.
It is now genuinely possible to submit a full objection in under a minute. At the same time, the new inline letter editing makes it far quicker and easier to personalise your objection, add your own comments and refine the wording to your liking. For people who choose to edit and personalise their letters, this has reduced the average visit time by more than five minutes, while still providing full control over what is submitted.

One of the most noticeable changes is how editing works.
You can now edit your objection directly inline within the letter itself, exactly where the text appears. There are no pop ups and no separate screens. What you see is exactly what will be sent, making the process feel more like writing a real letter than filling out a form.

Behind the scenes, our AI rewrite models have been significantly improved.
They are now faster and more intelligent, producing greater variation in tone and phrasing while retaining all the important facts, arguments and references. This means objections feel more natural and less repetitive, without losing the substance that makes them effective and credible.

We have also rethought how participation is counted.
The updated counter now includes both submitted objections and downloaded letters, giving a more accurate and honest picture of how many people are actively engaging and taking action.

Submission no longer feels uncertain.
Once an objection is sent, you will now receive two emails. One contains a full copy of your objection letter for your records. The second confirms that your objection has been submitted and successfully received, providing clear reassurance that your voice has been formally logged.

Version 4 is not optional or experimental.
It is now the standard system used for all ObjectNow objection campaigns across the UK.
You can explore the new platform right now using the live demo:

This release also includes the launch of a brand new ObjectNow website today.
The site has been rebuilt to work seamlessly alongside the platform and introduces stronger content, clearer guidance and enhanced features. At a later stage, currently planned for late January to mid February, free tools will be added to support communities when an official ObjectNow objection platform is not available.

This update also marks an important turning point for our branding.
We have been wrestling with our old logo and colour scheme for some time, trying to make them stretch as ObjectNow grew beyond what was originally planned. Version 4 finally gave us the space to reset and create a look that better reflects where ObjectNow is now and where it is heading.
You may have already spotted a small preview of this change. Our Facebook banners were updated ahead of this announcement, so if something looked slightly different, you were not imagining it.

We have always tried to support as many campaigners as possible, but in the past this was not always achievable. Rising costs and fixed overheads meant that some communities simply could not be supported in the way we wanted.
That has now changed. By working closely with our suppliers and reducing our own overheads, we have been able to introduce fairer pricing across ObjectNow. More importantly, we are committing to launching one in every four objection platforms on a fully pro bono basis.
Our aim is simple. We want to help as many communities as possible. If funding is a concern, please do not let that stand in the way. We are always happy to look at our available funds and see where we can help.

Alongside these UK wide platform updates, we will be aiming to launch The Peopleβs Declaration (Scotland) on 1 February 2026.
This declaration applies to Scotland at present and will call for an immediate moratorium on all energy applications and developments that are not already under construction.
It marks the beginning of a coordinated national effort to restore democratic oversight and meaningful scrutiny.

2026 is about strengthening how objections, campaigns and public pressure work together over time. It is about consistency, coordination and long term impact, while keeping individual objections central and meaningful.

And finally, a sincere thank you to everyone who submitted an objection during 2025.
In total, over 30,000 objections were submitted using an ObjectNow objection platform. Every improvement in this release has been shaped by that collective effort and feedback, and it continues to guide how we build, refine and prioritise what comes next.
