ObjectNow Objection Tool

Zacbury Wind Farm Park Demo

This demonstration campaign relates to the fictional Zacbury Wind Farm Park and has been created to show how an objection campaign appears and functions within the ObjectNow platform. The development and locations described are not real and are used only to illustrate a realistic planning scenario.

The campaign showcases the new ObjectNow Version 5.0 release. It is cleaner, fresher and quicker to navigate, making the process of submitting an objection simpler and more accessible for everyone.

This example demonstrates how objections are clearly structured, how policy context and local impacts are presented together, and how complex issues can be explained in an understandable way. This template is now used by default for all objection campaigns going forward.

Terms and Conditions

Please read and accept the terms before continuing to the objection section selection.

By proceeding, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you are submitting this representation in your own name and capacity, and that you are over the age of 16.

  1. What ObjectNow is. ObjectNow is a civic participation platform that helps you prepare and submit planning and consultation representations. It is a facilitation tool only: it does not provide legal advice, planning consultancy, or professional representation, and using it does not create any such relationship.

  2. Your responsibility for the content. ObjectNow may generate, suggest, restructure, or assemble objection content by drawing on pre-prepared material and foundational materials. You remain solely responsible for reviewing, approving, and accepting the final content before it is submitted. Any changes, additions, or personal comments you make are entirely at your own discretion and responsibility. You should read your submission carefully before sending it.

  3. How your submission is sent. Depending on the campaign, your representation may be emailed on your behalf to, or prepared for you to submit to, planning authorities, government bodies, reporters, consultation portals, or other relevant decision-making authorities. Once submitted, your representation is subject to the control and publication policies of the receiving authority.

  4. Publication by authorities. Planning authorities and public bodies may publish representations (including names, addresses, and submitted content) on publicly accessible websites or planning portals. ObjectNow requests redaction of personal information where appropriate, but publication decisions rest entirely with the receiving authority and are outside ObjectNow's control.

  5. Petitions. Where petition functionality is used, petition support may accompany or reinforce a wider campaign but does not by itself constitute a formal statutory objection unless it is separately submitted through the relevant statutory process.

  6. Your personal data. ObjectNow processes personal data only as far as necessary to operate the platform (including generating and sending your submission, confirming your email address, keeping security, delivery, and audit records, preventing abuse, and supporting campaign functionality) in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  7. Keeping your own record. A receiving authority is under no obligation to acknowledge your representation or to publish it on its portal, and timescales for doing so vary. For this reason, we recommend you keep your own copy of your objection letter together with your objection reference number. If a question ever arises about whether your objection was received, ObjectNow can provide a record showing that your submission was sent, along with the date and time it was sent.

Select Objection Sections

Select the points you want included in your objection. You can also add a personal impact statement in your own words.

? What counts as a planning objection?

A planning authority can only take certain kinds of points into account. Focusing on these gives your objection more weight. This is general guidance to help you write a strong objection — it is not advice about your particular case.

Points that carry weight

  • Landscape, visual impact and the character of the area
  • Traffic generation, road safety and access
  • Noise, dust, odour or other disturbance
  • Loss of light, overshadowing or overlooking
  • Effect on protected species, habitats or trees
  • Drainage, flooding and water environment
  • Loss of important open space or recreational land
  • Whether the proposal accords with the local development plan and national policy

Points that usually do not

  • The effect on your property value
  • The identity, character or motives of the applicant
  • Loss of a private view
  • Boundary or land-ownership disputes
  • Competition with an existing business
  • That the area was here first, or general dislike of change
  • Matters covered by other laws (e.g. civil disputes)

These often feel important, and they are valid feelings — but the planning authority is not allowed to take them into account, so your objection is stronger if you focus on the points on the left.

Add your own observations

Answering even one of these in your own words makes your objection unique and gives it more weight. A planning authority must consider your individual knowledge of the area. All fields are optional.

For example, views, noise, traffic, or anything you would notice day to day.

For example, walking, cycling, work, school runs, or local wildlife you know.

Explain in your own words why this matters to you personally.

Optional. Add anything further in your own words about how the proposal affects you, your home, your business, your community, or the local environment.

Review Your Objection

This is a preview of your objection. It has not been submitted yet — nothing is sent until you click the Submit button at the bottom of this page. Take your time to read it through, and edit the text directly if you'd like to change anything.

Use Back to options to add or change sections and observations you may have missed. Regenerating will select fresh rewrite variations while keeping your selected sections, observations and comments.

Clicking Submit is the only thing that sends your objection. Download PDF just saves a copy to your device for your own records — it does not submit your objection.

You can attach up to 3 images (JPEG or PNG, 2MB each after compression). They will be sent as attachments alongside your letter, and referenced at the end of your letter as "Att: Supporting-Image-1.jpg" etc. Images are never stored on our server — they exist only long enough to send your email, then are permanently deleted.

Sends your objection. You'll get a confirmation once it's done.
Saves a copy for your records. This does not send your objection.
