Like many of the people we support, we are campaigners and volunteers ourselves. We understand the reality of limited funding, limited time, and reliance on unpaid effort. For that reason, our experience, knowledge, guidance, and ongoing engagement with campaigners are shared freely and without charge.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nThere is no cost for ObjectNow\u2019s ongoing support. Time spent reading, reviewing, and responding to communications, discussing strategy, or helping campaigners understand the planning process is provided voluntarily. This reflects our role as a campaigning group supporting other campaigners, not a billable consultancy or advisory service.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nRunning and maintaining the objection platform itself does, however, involve unavoidable technical costs. These relate solely to the operation of the system and include infrastructure, development and maintenance, hosting, secure data handling, email delivery, and the processing of large volumes of objection letters. While we would much rather not charge at all, we do need to recover enough to keep the platform running reliably and sustainably.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nWe also recognise that campaign objections are not one size fits all. Planning applications vary widely in scale, complexity, and technical demand, and different campaigns place very different demands on the platform. For this reason, we have moved away from fixed packages and now take a flexible approach that reflects the specific needs of each campaign.\n<\/p>\n\n<h3><strong>\nCore Platform Setup\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\nThe starting cost for an ObjectNow campaign is \u00a3100. This covers the essential technical work required to make a public facing objection platform available. This includes the campaign website, a dedicated subdomain, SSL security, email systems, and basic branding so the site is ready for people to take part.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nThis base cost applies only to the technical setup of the platform. It does not relate to ongoing support, advice, or campaign guidance, all of which are always provided freely. It also does not include optional or additional technical build work beyond the core platform being made available.\n<\/p>\n\n<h3><strong>\nCampaign Specific Technical Work\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\nSome campaigns require additional technical configuration because of their size, complexity, or expected level of participation. This may include handling unusually high objection volumes, customising how objection content is structured, or supporting more complex campaign workflows. Where we are unable to provide pro bono support, and an initial estimate is beyond what a campaign can realistically manage, we are always open to working within a campaign\u2019s available budget.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nThis is not about asking campaigners to justify their finances. It is about finding a practical and fair way forward. Where possible, we will look at adjusting the scope of technical work, prioritising what is essential, or phasing delivery so the campaign can still use the platform without compromising reliability or quality.\n<\/p>\n\n<h3><strong>\nExamples of How Costs Can Be Reduced\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\nCosts can often be reduced where campaign groups have already carried out some of the groundwork themselves. For example, if campaigners have already reviewed the application documents and identified relevant planning or policy conflicts, this material can be used directly to produce a foundation objection letter at a reduced cost.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nSimilarly, where a campaign can supply structured notes, draft text, or clearly referenced policy breaches, this reduces duplication of effort and shortens setup time. Campaigns that only require a smaller number of objection variations, or that expect lower participation levels, can also often be supported at lower cost.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nIn some cases, technical features can be simplified or deferred to keep costs within reach, while still ensuring that the platform functions correctly and objections are submitted in a professional and effective manner.\n<\/p>\n\n<h3><strong>\nKeeping Access Fair and Open\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\nWhere a campaign is able to contribute towards the operational costs of the platform, we ask it to do so. This helps ensure ObjectNow remains available for current and future campaigns.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nObjectNow is not donation funded. The platform is sustained by covering its operational costs in a clear and transparent way.\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\nWhere funding is limited or unavailable, we actively try to offer reduced cost or pro bono access when capacity allows. While this cannot be guaranteed for every campaign, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that cost does not prevent people from making their voices heard.\n<\/p>\n\n<h3><strong>\nClear Costs and No Surprises\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>\nAll platform related costs are discussed openly before any work begins and provided as a clear estimate. This agreed figure is the maximum payable, and the final invoice will never exceed it.
