ObjectNow Objection Tool
Rhiwlas Energy Park would introduce turbines of up to 200 metres in height, together with access tracks, hardstandings, a substation and other infrastructure, into the open upland landscape surrounding Llangurig. While renewable energy has an important role in Wales, developments of this scale still need to demonstrate that their impacts on the landscape, wildlife, protected habitats, water environment, heritage, nearby homes and local communities are acceptable. Rhiwlas also needs to be considered alongside other energy development around Llangurig, including Banc Du and the separate infrastructure proposed to connect generation in the area.
Submitting an objection gives local residents, visitors and others who value the area an opportunity to ensure these impacts are properly considered before a decision is made. ObjectNow has brought together the principal planning and environmental concerns into a structured objection, allowing you to choose the issues that matter most to you and create your own representation. Whether your concerns relate to landscape and visual effects, wildlife, peat and water, public rights of way, dark skies, residential amenity, construction traffic, tourism or cumulative development, your representation helps ensure those concerns form part of the formal decision-making process.
Rhiwlas is an open upland landscape overlooking the small rural community of Llangurig in Powys, within the upper Wye Valley and surrounded by the hills of the Cambrian Mountains. The area has been shaped over generations by farming, scattered rural settlements and routes across the hills, and remains valued for its open countryside, wildlife, dark skies and tranquillity. With the River Wye and several important nature conservation sites nearby, it is a landscape where the natural environment, local heritage and rural way of life remain closely connected.
